Throughout the day, while our focus will be on discovering the exceptional wines produced by the Hunter Valley's boutique wineries, we'll also take advantage of opportunities to sample some of the other local delights the area is known for. This might include gourmet food tastings or visits to local producers, adding an extra layer of indulgence to your day.

You are welcome to bring your own, we can arrange a picnic or you can select from one of cafe, pub, or restaurant options that are popular with our groups. The choice is yours....if you already have somewhere in mind we are happy to work this into the itinerary for the day.

We typically begin with a 7:30 am pick-up from your accommodation in Sydney, ensuring a comfortable start to your day. En route to the Hunter Valley, we'll make a convenient restroom and coffee stop in Wyong.

Our first cellar door tasting is scheduled for approximately 10:00 am at Winery #1. We always aim to accommodate any specific winery requests you might have, although this is subject to the winery's availability at the time of booking. Please note that depending on your tasting selections, additional fees may be applicable, and we will inform you of these in advance. Following this, around 11:00 am to noon, we'll have a delightful cheese tasting experience at The Smelly Cheese Shop.

Lunch is planned for 12:30 pm at a venue of your choosing, allowing you to tailor this part of the day to your preferences. At 2:00 pm, we will proceed to Winery #3 for another cellar door tasting.

Around 3:00 pm, you'll have a choice of experiences: enjoy a Vodka and Schnapps Tasting at The Hunter Distillery, visit a local brewery to sample some of the region's craft beers, or opt for an additional cellar door tasting at another winery. To conclude the tasting portion of our tour, at 4:00 pm, we'll indulge in some delicious treats at The Hunter Valley Chocolate Company.

We will then depart the Hunter Valley at approximately 4:30 pm to begin our return journey to Sydney, with an estimated arrival time back at your Sydney accommodation of around 6:30 pm.

Restroom and coffee stop en route to the Hunter Valley at Wyong

10:00am Cellar Door Tasting at Winery # 1. We will try our best to accommodate specific requests, subject to availability at the winery at time of booking. Additional tasting fees may be payable depending on the selection. We will let you know!

11:00am Cellar Door Wine Tasting at Winery # 2.

Noon: Indulge in a local cheese and chocolate tasting giving you the opportunity to purchase some of the regions best local produce.

1:00pm Lunch at the venue of your choice allowing you to tailor this part of the day to your preferences.

2:30pm Cellar Door Tasting at Winery # 3.

3:30pm Enjoy a Vodka and Schnapps Tasting at The Hunter Distillery, visit a local brewery to sample local craft beers or enjoy another cellar door tasting.   

4:15 pm Depart the Hunter Valley and start the return journey to Sydney

6:30 pm Arrive back in Sydney

Itinerary Details

We recommend departing Sydney at approximately 7:30am. This allows us to have your group arriving in the Hunter Valley ready to enjoy your first tasting when the wineries open at 10am.

There is flexibility to leave later however this usually means that you will not be able to fit as much into the itinerary at the wineries will not take groups beyond certain times. Starting later does not always mean finishing later. We are happy to work with your times but please bear in mind that you really need to be in the valley for 6 hours to get the most out of the tour when travelling from Sydney for this experience.

On our full day Hunter Valley Wine Tours from Sydney we recommend including cellar door tastings at three wineries, lunch, a local cheese OR chocolate tasting and a visit to either a local brewery OR distillery. You can of course request to make changes to this.

Cheese & Chocolate

Hunter Valley tours are not just about the wine. The area is home to some other great local produce and a day in the hunter valley is not complete without trying some local cheeses. On this tour we will visit either the Hunter Valley Cheese Company, Binoirie Diary or the Smelly Cheese Shop. With the Chocolate it’s all about visiting the Hunter Valley Chocolate Company and trying some of their great chocolates and fudges. We also have suitable storage on the bus to keep any items cool on the journey home.

Pricing

All of our tours are private charter, meaning it is just your group travelling with their own driver guide for the day. Our fixed price charter cost for groups of 10 and under is $1190, lunch additional. We do not run any shared tours at this time.

Our group of 12 arranged this day tour to the Hunter Valley with James. A wonderful time was had by all. The bus is really comfortable and James is a great host. He has incredible knowledge of the Hunter but also allows us to have input into what we see and do. Would highly recommend Cloud 9 when you next require a professional but fun tour to the Hunter/Southern Highlands/Blue Mountains or wherever else takes your fancy.
